Luke 9:23 – “And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.”
In keeping with the First Church Mission statement of Making Faithful Disciples, Maturing Faithful Disciples and Multiplying Faithful Disciples, we currently employ the MasterLife Discipleship Training Program as part of our educational and training arm. MasterLife is a sequential, developmental, small group process that helps Christians grow into mature disciples of Jesus Christ as they become grounded in biblical doctrine. The program consists of two 14-week semesters, which involve daily workbook assignments as well as weekly group meetings for accountability.
According to the author, Avery T. Willis Jr., “Christian discipleship is developing a personal, lifelong, obedient relationship with Jesus Christ in which He transforms your character into Christlikeness, changes your values into Kingdom values, and involves you in His mission in the home, the church, and the world.” The major components of MasterLife involve developing the following six biblical disciplines: (1) Spending Time with the Master, (2) Living in the Word, (3) Praying in Faith, (4) Fellowshipping with Believers, (5) Witnessing to the World, and (6) Ministering to Others.
